First Paranormal Sighting of 2015 is…the Skunk Ape?!?

The first paranormal sighting of 2015 didn’t take long. Angler John Rodriguez allegedly captured the elusive Skunk Ape, a version of Bigfoot native to Florida.

The Skunk Ape has quite the history in Florida. Reports of the creature stretch back as far as the 1960s and 1970s. In 2000, an anonymous person mailed two photographs of the Skunk Ape to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Department.

Rodriguez claims that his photograph is legitimate, although experts question the authenticity of the photo. According to photo data, the image was digitally created in Photoshop.

The sighting, which claimed to have happened on the Hillsborough River near northeast Tampa, occurred as Rodriguez fished for gar in the river. He heard noises, spotted the creature, took the photo, and vacated the area as quickly as possible.

According to Wikipedia, the Skunk Ape is also known as the Swamp Ape, Stink Ape, Florida Bigfoot, Myakka Ape, and the Myakka Skunk Ape. Reports place the creature mainly in Florida, with sightings in North Carolina and Arkansas.
